New OneUp Components Clip pedals now available
OneUp Components have just launched their new clipless pedal, called the clip pedals. Opinions aside as to what you would call them, OneUp’s first foray into the clipless pedal market is a strong one.
From Squamish, BC and well known for their innovative products, solving many MTB problems for riders around the world (EDC tools I am looking at you). OneUp have had flat pedals in their lineup for sometime, with good success. With their new clip pedal, they are not exactly reinventing the wheel. Rather improving on it. The key talking point with these pedals is the weight for the size. These pedals offer a large 80x90mm platform but for less weight the Shimano’s super popular XT trail pedals. Coming in at 20 grams lighter (410g against 430g), yet offering far superior support platform.
This is achieved with a super low overall height at 26.8mm including the SPD mechanism. Making these the thinnest clipless pedals on the market. Not only does this offer lighter weight but also far improved ground clearance avoiding more debris on the trail.
The cleat mechanism utilises the well known Shimano SPD system, making finding spare cleats in a sticky situation much for more achievable. The binding offers 5 degrees of float, with a release angle at 12 degrees. OneUp’s own cleats are included with the pedals and also an optional shim to tune your height preference.
