Riding clipped in has become the norm in modern mountain biking. Lots of riders are seeing the advantage of wearing clip-in shoes, to maximise their control and pedalling performance on the bike. Riding clipped in allows you to pull up on the pedals on the up stroke, a lot of riders find this useful for when exiting corners. You can really hammer the pedals and not find yourself fumbling your foot placement on a flat/platform pedal. It also gives you the ability to control bike placement easier. Being locked into the pedal, you can use this to your advantage when moving the back wheel. Making it easier to perform, ‘endo’ turns, bunny hops and other useful tricks on the trail.
