For mountain bike riding it is essential to have a good pair of gloves. With protection and traction in mind, when it comes to off-road there is a few features to consider with MTB gloves. The biggest choice being how much protection do you require? As the speeds get higher, particularly with downhill and enduro riding. You may want to consider gloves with additional protection, this is usually in the form of knuckle guards. Generally the first part to make contact, knuckle guards will help minimise any damage from when the trees get too tight! Some knuckle guards use D3O material, which is a smart compound that is soft when static yet goes hard on impact.
