There is a few reasons why a cycling jacket differs from regular coat. The fit is tailored to be snug, you don’t want the jacket grabbing or catching on a branch. The cut usually is a little lower over the back as well, this helps with a spray up the back and keep you clean. Hoods are designed to be bigger also, this allows you in really adverse conditions to hood up over your helmet.
