Brake Pads

It is important to regularly change your brake pads and keep them in good condition. Brakes are only as good as the pad that does the stopping. Pad wear can vary dependent on how often you ride, the condition of your trails and time of year. Typically the winter/wet muddy conditions will wear the pads faster. The grit will apply extra resistance and decrease the life of the pad. Multiple compounds are available for the braking surface. The most popular being sintered and resin. Typically sintered are favoured for their increased durability but can lack the real sharp bite. This is where resin comes in, a softer compound that will wear quicker but give more power.
