Some would argue that good disc brakes are the most important components when it comes to your MTB. Without strong power how do you intend to stop yourself when flying down the roughest terrain? There is a lot of choice on the market when it comes to disc brakes. You have options from popular manufacturers including: Shimano, SRAM, Hope, Hayes, TRP, Formula and many more… Different brands can offer varying feel when it comes to the performance of the brake. Shimano brakes tend to have a distinctive hard stop with minimal modulation, whereas SRAM will have high modulation but not as aggressive instant power. It all comes down how you like brakes to feel and perform on the trail.
