Steering is an important aspect of bike setup and is personal to each rider as well as discipline. Steering generally covers, handlebars, stem and grips. These are the three main components used to control and steer the bike. How and why you set these up for is depending on what you are riding. For example, downhill and enduro MTB riders typically go for wider bars and shorter stems. This helps with better control on technically demanding descents. But it does not necessarily put them in a good position for climbing or sprints. This is where a XC racer would use a narrower bar and longer stem. Giving them a better position for climbing and laying down the watts in a sprint!
